Protien: The Learnng #9

My New Shoes

Last night while I was sweating my ass (and every other part of my body) off at R.I.P.P.E.D.  The instructor stated, "Don't eat before you come..."  Although I think she was speaking to the class in general, to show us that she was still able to work out, breathe, and talk, I felt that she knew that I had indeed eaten before I attended class.  In the middle of the night, I couldn't sleep and checked my news feeds.  Huffington Post had "Summer Fitness Tips."  One of the tips was "Don't Protein-Load Before Your Workout."  It seems that it actually raises your temperature.  I sweat more (much more) than the average person and really don't need a higher basal temperature.  Maybe I should have chosen the banana instead of the chicken breast.

While I was on that page, I also clicked on 10 Unexpected Benefits of Working Out.  I thought I'd uses it as a motivator.  Especially the one about hit helping older women with memory.  It also said that working out may reduce risk of psoriasis (KC already works out... a lot, so I'm not sure that this is factual).  Does it count for learning if one doesn't believe it?  I learned that I don't believe it.

BTW- When I was in Sioux Falls last Saturday, I bought a pair of Asics at Scheel's.  I always buy my shoes there because the shoe sales staff is wonderful, and I wear a 10 narrow, and they always have at least one style for me.  This time the sales lady showed me a trick to tie my shoes (and I learned it) so that the heel would fit tighter.  Although this trick didn't work for all of the 10 shoes I tried on, it did for this pair of shoes.  I didn't have to get the ugly style that was the 10 narrow.  Plus, they have a great return policy.  I wore them last night to class and will wear them tonight on the treadmill.  If they don't work, I can return them even though I've wore them outside.  Amazing!  While I was there, I also looked at kayaks, but I don't think I can fit one in my car (disappointing).

so many things to day about this - first of all should the call be called R.I.P. and skip the rest?
Second I love Asics. I too have a narrow foot and especially heel and these always work for me
Third good tip about the eating. I have been sweating way more than usual this year. I mean I know it is over 100 and sometimes even 110 here but I have never sweat this much before.
Lastly - the trick about looping the top of the lace through that extra little hole has been magic for me!
Good luck with your motivation.

Sankalpa Day 5

Today I went back to the interweb to find out what I could post about that would relate to sankalpa .  "...Sankalpa has the potential to release tremendous power by clearly defining and focusing on a chosen goal."  My chosen goal since May has truly been on being physically active.  Since it's cold and miserable out, I've been being active inside instead of outside.  December 6th (or something like that) was the last time I ventured outside for physical activity.  I, however, have still been going to they gym and focusing on being physically fit (or at least burning enough calories to eat more food).  Yesterday I received an early morning text from a friend in God's Country .  President Obama was talking about "The President's Challenge" .  Today (I tried yesterday and decided to put it off until today... forget out it... let it happen... put it aside... clear my mind of it... all probably sankalpa) I formed a group.  The...

What if... The Delivery

Molly was excited to get a package from her friend who lives in Alaska.  When she opened the box, she was confused.  Although the shirt was actually soft and of good quality, she was upset by the guns in the flag.  When she googled Holster's, it was exactly what she thought... pro-gun.  She didn't know how to handle the situation, so she sent a picture stating she was confused. Her friend had obviously lost her mind.  During the conversation, she kept proclaiming that she hadn't sent a t-shirt.  When Molly explained it was her writing on the box, things became weird.  The friend was in a state of denial.  Molly even sent a text with a picture of the writing on the box. Molly's friend was adamant that she sent homemade condiments.  She wouldn't give up on her story even though it was clear Molly is in possession of an NRA type t-shirt.  After much deliberation, the two friends realized what had happened.  The original box, wit...

Missing You

Two Sundays ago I missed church because I was out of town. Last Sunday I missed church because I could not get to church due to the marathon (blocking my path... not my running). Dad and I tried to leave early, but we did not leave early enough. I joked with Dad about the fact that they would miss me at church. When I checked my e-mail this evening, I actually had an e-mail from my pastor saying I was missed. It was a short e-mail, but it was sweet and definitely a positive part of my day.
