May Bee Blog Challenge

Maybe, I'm in need of some encouragement and perhaps a bit of a challenge to continue blogging.  It seems I spend my time on Facebook and Instagram instead of this blog.  Actually, I was thinking about stopping blogging, but maybe this will kick me into gear. Speaking of gear, I ordered this bee jersey from the RAGBRAI store.  Now, I'm waiting for it to get warm enough for me to wear it.

Coming to the End

We're coming to the end of Lent.  Tomorrow is Easter.  Today I colored my last picture in my Lenten coloring book, and then I put it in the recycling.  It seems anti-climatic, but it was about the process of some form of meditation.  Slowing down has been a part of this spring break since I've been sick.  I've been watching This is Us.  Although it's a good show, I'm not as enamored as most.  I think part of the reason is that I am binge watching, and so much of it is repetitive.  Repetitive seems to be the theme for Lent as I color and bike and sleep and binge a series while doing school work.  One thing that has not been repetitive is my blogging.  Perhaps Instagram and Facebook has taken over blogging.  Perhaps, I need some challenge, motivation, creativity...  Perhaps I'll start back with the alphabet...  Perhaps, it's time...

Spring Break

Soooo.... I'm going into spring break with the remnants of a UTI and a bit of bronchitis.  At least I went to the doctor on Friday and have medication.  Anyway, I'm still riding my bike every day in April and coloring for meditation during Lent... oh, and sleeping for hours at a time. It's a good routine.  Today I rode early since early morning was going to be the warmest time of the day.  My plan was to start grading five paragraph essays when I returned.  It's 11:33, and I haven't opened the essays.  I decided my mind wasn't ready for grading, so I'm working on my sub plans for next week (and blogging while looking at FB and Instagram).  Although I don't enjoy doing work on spring break, I'm going to use the colder rainier day to complete my needed tasks, so I can enjoy the rest.  I think it's a good plan. Today I give thanks for... 1) first full pot of coffee since Friday's doctor appointment 2) time to relax and recuperate 3) clea...

The Coughing

I didn't start using my inhalers until Saturday morning (maybe evening), and I will admit that I waited too long.  My asthma and allergies are kicking my ass.  When I did start using my inhalers, I used the expired ones since I didn't want to pay for new inhalers.  This may sound a bit insane, but the two inhalers cost over $300.  I'm proud to say that I was smart enough to use my new inhaler and only ride a few miles today.  Don't worry; I've got this. Actually, I had a coughing fit in my last class and couldn't breathe.  The students actually made fun of me which seems a bit mean.  It doesn't matter.  I will prevail. Today I give thanks for... 1) kind people at work (not my last hour) 2) cookies (A colleague brought me a cookie for lunch, and I'm having cookies with dinner). 3) a ride towards to Twins' stadium

Girl Scout Cookies

I'm not really a thin mint person; I prefer shortbread cookies.  Today I bought four boxes from a friend.  It's sad, but we really only see each other once a year when I purchase cookies from her daughter.  As we left lunch today (midday since we had a lot to discuss), we vowed to get together before the next cookie sale.  I also vowed to eat one tube before I went to bed.  I don't mean to brag, but I'm halfway to my gaol. This mornings' ride was really short due to coughing and other affects of my illness.  It seems headaches, dizziness, runny noses, and coughing do not do well on two wheels.  At least I was able to ride long enough to find a light picture for Lent which also worked as my biking picture for day 2 (#30daysofbiking). Today I give thanks for... 1) catching up with JY 2) shortbread cookies 3) nap time

#30daysofbiking

#30daysofbiking started today with a kickoff ride.  We met at the commons area across from the USBank Stadium.  I arrived early as recommended and was treated to fruit, scones, and coffee.  It was a beautiful day and everyone was in a splendid mood.  I walked around drinking my coffee and talking to fellow riders.  Unfortunately, I'm still sick and spend a fair amount of time coughing.  When I realized the route had changed, I went to talk to someone about the new route and expressed my concern about one of the hills.  He looked at me strangely as I was talking/coughing, "You're not worried about the flat road too."  I admitted that I wasn't feeling well and acknowledged I did have an escape route if my cough became worse.  He smiled and thanked me for coming.  I was in the inside lane when I decided to take my escape route and warned the cyclist next to me.  He stated that he was wondering how I was riding with my awful cough an...
