End of Winter

Bare-handed reach

April's
incoming curve.
Leap higher than you thought you could and
Hold:
Spring,
Solid,
Here.

Although I am posting this Tuesday morning, most of the material comes from Monday.  Yesterday was my eight week check-up with the orthopedic surgeon.  While I was waiting (for an hour) in the waiting room, a baseball game shown on the television.  The Miami Marlins were playing the Boston Red Sox (really they can't spell socks?).  Since I've already written about the alliteration of the Miami Marlins, I knew it was time to write about the Red Sox.  Do you think both the Red Sox and White Sox go by "The Sox"?  Is there something to using Sox instead of socks?  Enough baseball... My appointment started with the ortho telling me that we (him and I) weren't twenty anymore.  Really?  He also stated that I should be patient with my recovery since it's only been eight weeks.  Actually, this was stated several times.  In fact, after I asked about running, playing golf, and ziplining, he told me I was to use caution and not to start anything new without getting permission.  In my mind this goes against his opening words that we aren't twenty anymore... just saying.

BTW- I highlighted Boston Red Sox, so you wouldn't forget it was my baseball post.  Also, in class, yesterday, we used one of Eve Merriam's poems, so using her today is fitting.  Plus it ties into the baseball theme and my list of giving thanks (rain not snow).
Hey Pronto... "That's good blogging."

Today I am thankful for...
1) Cyclones (two teams in the Big Dance)
2) Potstickers from Big Bowl (last night dinner)
3) rain instead of snow... let's go spring!

Oh how I miss Big Bowl! I have to agree the whole permission thing is counter to not being twenty. And patience - he doesn't know you well

I love potstickers and I love Eve Merriam. Tonight we watched a show on PBS about the Red Sox World Series victory. So moving. They showed how people brought signs and flags out to their parents' graves after that game. Because their parents had rooted for the SOX their whole lives. I cried. Great show.

Damn straight that's good blogging. Where the hell is Pronto, anyway? Hello? Comment on other posts, please, Pronto.

Ziplining? Ziplining. A) is that a word? B) I don't know that I'll ever do that. It sounds expensive and exotic. My next door neighbors have a zipline in their backyard for their college and teen sons. Maybe, just maybe, they'll let me give it a shot.

Sankalpa Day 5

Today I went back to the interweb to find out what I could post about that would relate to sankalpa .  "...Sankalpa has the potential to release tremendous power by clearly defining and focusing on a chosen goal."  My chosen goal since May has truly been on being physically active.  Since it's cold and miserable out, I've been being active inside instead of outside.  December 6th (or something like that) was the last time I ventured outside for physical activity.  I, however, have still been going to they gym and focusing on being physically fit (or at least burning enough calories to eat more food).  Yesterday I received an early morning text from a friend in God's Country .  President Obama was talking about "The President's Challenge" .  Today (I tried yesterday and decided to put it off until today... forget out it... let it happen... put it aside... clear my mind of it... all probably sankalpa) I formed a group.  The...

What if... The Delivery

Molly was excited to get a package from her friend who lives in Alaska.  When she opened the box, she was confused.  Although the shirt was actually soft and of good quality, she was upset by the guns in the flag.  When she googled Holster's, it was exactly what she thought... pro-gun.  She didn't know how to handle the situation, so she sent a picture stating she was confused. Her friend had obviously lost her mind.  During the conversation, she kept proclaiming that she hadn't sent a t-shirt.  When Molly explained it was her writing on the box, things became weird.  The friend was in a state of denial.  Molly even sent a text with a picture of the writing on the box. Molly's friend was adamant that she sent homemade condiments.  She wouldn't give up on her story even though it was clear Molly is in possession of an NRA type t-shirt.  After much deliberation, the two friends realized what had happened.  The original box, wit...

Missing You

Two Sundays ago I missed church because I was out of town. Last Sunday I missed church because I could not get to church due to the marathon (blocking my path... not my running). Dad and I tried to leave early, but we did not leave early enough. I joked with Dad about the fact that they would miss me at church. When I checked my e-mail this evening, I actually had an e-mail from my pastor saying I was missed. It was a short e-mail, but it was sweet and definitely a positive part of my day.
