I was observed today by a peer coach. Tomorrow will be my post observation. The peer coach is really nice, really nice. I've mentioned a bit in jest that I could say FU in class, and she would tell me I did a great job getting everyone's attention. Of course I did not say FU in class today, but as class ended I did play some songs with figurative language. I used tubechop.com, so I could play an appropriate segment of each song.
Here's a list:
Fancy by Iggy Azalea
Dark Horse by Kelly Clarkson
La La La by Naughty Boy feat Sam Smith
Happy by Pharrell Wiliams
Girl on Fire by Alecia Keys
Counting Stars by One Republic
Stereo Hearts by Gym Class Heroes
Fire Flies by Owl City
I also added two songs from Frozen.
I think it's a good list, but it will be out of date next year. Actually, I have a list from last year, but I don't know if the students will recognize a lot of the songs. Besides today's observation, I've been deliberating about tomorrow's listening exercise. I have two options I'm considering. Both are Maya Angelou poems with Maya speaking (And Still I Rise and Hopscotch). At this point, I'm leaning towards And Still I Rise, but I've changed the Notebook file twice. It will be a "game time decision."
Today I am thankful for...
1) robins chirping
2) a brief visit from Dad and Carol
3) TubeChop
