Day 6 of the #30daysofbiking did not go well. After getting lost on Saturday, I was quite sure I had Sunday was going to be awesome, warmer weather and a better idea of my trail. Five miles into my ride I braked too quickly to avoid a cement wall. This caused me to fly off my bike and land on the pavement. It also dinged up my new bike. I'm not sure how it happened but I was able to finish my ride (probably another ten miles). I really need to find a GPS bike app that works, but maybe my accident cleared it. Anyway, I finished my ride in quite a bit of pain, but I really think I was riding on adrenaline. When I got home, I took my bike to the bike shop and headed to Twin Cities Orthopedics. The doctor at Twin Cities said I should come back on Thursday for another X-Ray and an MRI. Until then I'm supposed to keep my arm in a sling to protect my shoulder.
Today I decided to leave the sling in my bag because I could control the pain more merely keeping it at a 90º angle and grabbing my sweatshirt. I explained to my classes why I was carrying myself in this strange manner. My second hour class had some wisecracks about how I don't follow the doctors directions reminding me of not getting the boot right away when the doctor advised. I told them they had valid points, but I was fine without the sling.
Sooooo.... My plan was to at least ride the stationary bike today, but I'm really in too much pain. I guess I'm not going to make 30 days in April. Maybe I'll do my own 30 days once I'm recovered.
Today I give thanks for...
1) friends helping me out
2) warmer weather
3) pain killers, Arnica, and Advil... yep!
