Rejoice


The desert and the dry land will be glad; the wilderness will rejoice and blossom like the crocus. They will burst into bloom, and rejoice with joy and singing. All of creation rejoices together in the work of reconciliation, that even the desert and dry land are glad. What a beautiful reminder that God's grace extends to all of the created order.
In the midst of desolation, God creates a way in the desert for new life to spring up.

Today is the third Sunday of Advent.  We are asked to rejoice and see God in the darkness.  Although we are embarking on the darkest day of the year, we are also readying for more light.  This weekend has been a combination of darkness and light.  I've mentioned the pipes and my car.  This morning as I crossed the street to worship, I slipped on the ice and my ankle bent under my weight.  Because I was not able to put my weight on it, two gentleman (not all that young) helped me across the street and up into the art gallery for worship.  This weekend has been a bit challenging, but I can honestly say that I've felt God's presence in the people around me as I've been helped by wonderful people each step of the way.  As we entered church today, we were allowed to take a beautiful card with a reminder of the light in the darkness, and I found it fitting.

Oh well, I guess the dark side took it, but the dark side won't get this one.

Sankalpa Day 5

What if... The Delivery

  Molly was excited to get a package from her friend who lives in Alaska.  When she opened the box, she was confused.  Although the shirt was actually soft and of good quality, she was upset by the guns in the flag.  When she googled Holster's, it was exactly what she thought... pro-gun.  She didn't know how to handle the situation, so she sent a picture stating she was confused. Her friend had obviously lost her mind.  During the conversation, she kept proclaiming that she hadn't sent a t-shirt.  When Molly explained it was her writing on the box, things became weird.  The friend was in a state of denial.  Molly even sent a text with a picture of the writing on the box. I am going to school with a thank you/apology note in hand. Yesterday I was "caught red handed" making illegal copies on the staff copier. It's not like it's the first time I've done it. It's not like everyone doesn't do it. It's not like I feel sorry about making the copies The problem is that I was caught, completely "busted".
