Prince and Third Eye Girl

stolen from Kevin Mazur Star Tribune

I seriously contemplated spending $270 to see Prince in Minneapolis.  When tickets dropped to $99, I knew I had to go.  Plus, a colleague gave me advice on where to stand, and our view was amazing!  My friend, S, and I enjoyed our evening although reviews were mixed to negative.  Really?!  Of course, I'm not a music critic, but I loved the show.  Prince played his old songs although there was a new vibe to them.  He also did some guitar solo, covers, weird stuff which I thought was amazing.  IMHO, Prince is a true musician, an artist, an enigma, and I adore him.  Although it was my goal to see Prince live, my new goal is to see Prince live again (and again).  While standing in line the rumor was that Purple Rain was his last song.  When Purple Rain was played I felt melancholy that perhaps the show was actually over, but it wasn't.  Today I made a Prince playlist and headed to the gym.  Heck, I might play Prince all week; I love him so...

There were negative aspects to the show.
1) I seriously wanted to drink multiple beers and enjoy the show. The Myth's beer selection (Bud, Bud Light, and Michelob something), however, sucked, so I didn't drink any beer.  There is no reason to sell bad beer with all of the wonderful Minneapolis breweries.  Shame on you Myth.  My friend and I stopped at the Longfellow Grill on the way home for a pint of beer (good beer, not watered down crap).

2) Prince did not play I Would Die 4 U, perhaps my favorite Prince song.  Although I am mildly disappointed, I am not disgruntled.  I appreciate his new songs and found the show to be an absolute delight.  It had a rock and jazz kinda vibe to it... amazing.

3) The show was too short.  Since he did back to back shows, they were only 90 minutes.  I need to go see the three hour show somewhere, anywhere.

4) No cell phones were allowed in the venue which I totally understand... seriously, I get it...  I did, however, go approximately five hours without my cell phone.  Perhaps this is a record for me.

Oh, and one of my favorite Prince comments from last night's concert is "When you're happy. And you're giving yourself to others. You're always coming home."

Prince = Good Guy

Check out lyrics to Fix UR Life Up although it may be tomorrow's post.

Wow!

I'm not a huge PRINCE fan, but I've always felt I should be. I'm a medium PRINCE fan.

Did he sing Party like it's 1999?

Sankalpa Day 5

Today I went back to the interweb to find out what I could post about that would relate to sankalpa .  "...Sankalpa has the potential to release tremendous power by clearly defining and focusing on a chosen goal."  My chosen goal since May has truly been on being physically active.  Since it's cold and miserable out, I've been being active inside instead of outside.  December 6th (or something like that) was the last time I ventured outside for physical activity.  I, however, have still been going to they gym and focusing on being physically fit (or at least burning enough calories to eat more food).  Yesterday I received an early morning text from a friend in God's Country .  President Obama was talking about "The President's Challenge" .  Today (I tried yesterday and decided to put it off until today... forget out it... let it happen... put it aside... clear my mind of it... all probably sankalpa) I formed a group.  The...

What if... The Delivery

  Molly was excited to get a package from her friend who lives in Alaska.  When she opened the box, she was confused.  Although the shirt was actually soft and of good quality, she was upset by the guns in the flag.  When she googled Holster's, it was exactly what she thought... pro-gun.  She didn't know how to handle the situation, so she sent a picture stating she was confused. Her friend had obviously lost her mind.  During the conversation, she kept proclaiming that she hadn't sent a t-shirt.  When Molly explained it was her writing on the box, things became weird.  The friend was in a state of denial.  Molly even sent a text with a picture of the writing on the box. Molly's friend was adamant that she sent homemade condiments.  She wouldn't give up on her story even though it was clear Molly is in possession of an NRA type t-shirt.  After much deliberation, the two friends realized what had happened.  The original box, wit...

Missing You

Two Sundays ago I missed church because I was out of town. Last Sunday I missed church because I could not get to church due to the marathon (blocking my path... not my running). Dad and I tried to leave early, but we did not leave early enough. I joked with Dad about the fact that they would miss me at church. When I checked my e-mail this evening, I actually had an e-mail from my pastor saying I was missed. It was a short e-mail, but it was sweet and definitely a positive part of my day.
