My closet door hinges need some work. Actually the screw holes have become "worn and stripped", so I can no longer insert the screws without them falling out leaving the closet door to hang on one hinge instead of the required three. This week I've been busy with class, so my closet door has remained open. Since I don't typically clean my house, I'm not worried about this lack of neatness resulting from the closet door being open, but I am worried about the cat that likes to sleep and leave cat hair on my shoes. After consulting my father, Carol, and another friend, we decided my idea of moving the hinges up 1/2" was not the best idea. Honestly, they decided; I still think it was genius. Dad and Carol suggested using wood fill to fill the holes, letting it dry, filling again, letting it dry, until I had the holes filled and could insert the screws. My friend suggested asking the guy at the hardware store for a better idea. Last night I went to the Ace ("is the place", my "friendly hardware store") to buy wood fill. As I was talking to the guy about my project, he suggested Mr. Grip.
At first I was hesitant. Mr. Grip seemed too easy. All I needed to do was cut this little strip, stick it in the hole, and then drill in the screws. I decided to try it first since it was the easiest. No one, certainly not me, wants to spend hours filling a hole with wood filler. Using Mr. Grip was as easy as the helpful man at Ace said it would be. Thanks to my friendly Ace helper my closet doors were fixed in about ten minutes (probably less). If my hinges are still holding in a month, I will recommend Mr. Grip to everyone I know. Actually, today I will recommend Mr. Grip to everyone I know, "Use it to fix stripped and worn holes", and buy it from Ace because they're friendly and helpful.

I'm trying to understand how Mr. Grip works.
