Takis


It seems bribery is sometimes a positive incentive when it comes to adolescents in an after school reading program.  The group has been challenging to quite challenging this year.  Of course this is understandable when one takes struggling readers and asks them to spend an extra hour after school reading.  Last week we actually gave them a break on Wednesday because of Thanksgiving.  This week, at our school, the schedule is similar to last week since the students don't have school on Thursday (workshop) and Friday (comp day for conferences).  Unlike last week, they are not letting them take Wednesday off although this perplexes them since we gave them a break last Wednesday.  As the groans and behavior escalated, we bribed them.  Good behavior tonight equals Takis and soda tomorrow night.  Score!  It seems they will be doing a reader's theater from a chapter in their Hunger Games book while eating Takis and drinking soda, and I'm OK with this choice.

What are Takis?

I even made a trip to Walmart to purchase the Takis, and I hate Walmart.

I agree with LH. Well worth a trip to Wal-Mart. I need to check those out ASAP!

What if... The Delivery

  Molly was excited to get a package from her friend who lives in Alaska.  When she opened the box, she was confused.  Although the shirt was actually soft and of good quality, she was upset by the guns in the flag.  When she googled Holster's, it was exactly what she thought... pro-gun.  She didn't know how to handle the situation, so she sent a picture stating she was confused. Her friend had obviously lost her mind.  During the conversation, she kept proclaiming that she hadn't sent a t-shirt.  When Molly explained it was her writing on the box, things became weird.  The friend was in a state of denial.  Molly even sent a text with a picture of the writing on the box. I am going to school with a thank you/apology note in hand. Yesterday I was "caught red handed" making illegal copies on the staff copier. It's not like it's the first time I've done it.
