For a New Beginning
In out-of-the-way places of the heart,
Where your thoughts never think to wander,
This beginning has been quietly forming,
Waiting until you were ready to emerge.
For a long time it has watched your desire,
Feeling the emptiness growing inside you,
Noticing how you willed yourself on,
Still unable to leave what you had outgrown.
It watched you play with the seduction of safety
And the gray promises that sameness whispered,
Heard the waves of turmoil rise and relent,
Wondered would you always live like this.
Then the delight, when your courage kindled,
And out you stepped onto new ground,
Your eyes young again with energy and dream,
A path of plenitude opening before you.
Though your destination is not yet clear
You can trust the promise of this opening;
Unfurl yourself into the grace of beginning
That is at one with your life's desire.
Awaken your spirit to adventure;
Hold nothing back, learn to find ease in risk;
Soon you will be home in a new rhythm,
For your soul senses the world that awaits you.

(To Bless the Space Between Us)
I've been searching for words to describe my morning. It started with Sacred Journey, my worship service, as we talked about John 15:1-8 (the vine). Each time I attend this service I feel connected. Maybe it's because most in attendance are liberals and the Bible verses often have a progressive theme. After worship I stayed to listen to Coleen Rowley (whistle blower). Of course I agreed with what she said, but as I often do after listening to people like her, I am left with the question, "Seriously, what can I do?" I did ask her a question that she tried to answer although I really don't think there's an answer. Actually, I even waited patiently for my turn to speak, "Why do you think Obama changed his stance on Guantanamo, whistle blowers, The Patriot Act, etc.?" This was followed by is there any liberal who can keep their campaign promises with the power of the military, etc. Her point was valid. The "liberals" are not being loud enough while the right wing crazies won't shut up (my words, not hers). After listening to Rowley, I met with a group to discuss A Hopeful Earth: Faith, Science, and the Message of Jesus. It was like minded people who worry about our Earth while many seem to do the opposite. Although I feel in all situations there are more questions than answers, I know that I need to continue to do my part.
