Three days left with students and finally a student puts this year into perspective. A student is giving a speech (of her own not from research). Her speech is about the importance of education. It lasts twenty seconds. The information shared with the class and me says a lot about the students this year. She explains that education is important. Math is important because you need it to become a cashier, and p.e. is important because you need it to become an athlete. Our future depends on a class who doesn't care and aspires to learn math to be a cashier. This is only equaled to the student, on our team, who explained he didn't need to go to school to make money. I am at a loss!
