I am bothered!
I am bothered after a conversation with my dad on the phone. My mother is going to take him for everything he has while he and his lawyer seem to blindly think everything will work out. I respect and love my dad for being generous and kind, but I'm afraid this is going to hurt him with this divorce. He has been so generous with his proposals. Although mother and her lawyer haven't submitted a proposal, they have set a court date... for July. During the next six months she will be able to continue to make extravagent purchases on the credit card while Dad eats generic Cheerios and takes out another loan at the bank (He talked to the banker today).
I am bothered by news I found out about students after school. This student was working in a colleague's classroom after school. When I stopped to check to see who was in the room, my colleague mentioned the students were making her sad. Standing in the door the students shared with me what they had recently shared with my colleague. The first student was concerned about her mother dying because everytime she gets sick, she goes into the hospital. The second student shared that his three year old brother died over winter break in this student's bed. He continued about how he helped his brother by hooking him up to a machine and how when they took his brother to the hospital, he had been dead for five hours. This last story is bothersome on many levels. I am mainly bothered by the fact that the mother didn't have enough trust in the school system to let us know. We couldn't have changed anything, but maybe we could have given him some comfort or at least he could have talked to the counselor.
I am bothered and tired. Even though it's only six o'clock, I really want to take a shower and go to bed.
