This morning the principal met with our team to explain next year's schedule. The new schedule goes against "Best Practices" and the middle school philosophy, but it is obvious that our district doesn't care about either one. After the meeting I received an e-mail from the principal that merely said, "let's talk." Of course I went across the hall to find out if I was rude or disrespectful. J told me I was "disgruntled." I had a brief conversation with the principal whom I respect. Of course I'm not the only one that knows the schedule will NOT work for our population. During our short discussion, I reminded him that only one team member found it positive. This is a team member who doesn't read and certainly doesn't read education focused journals or books. I also told him that I would be checking pay scales for metro schools to see if I could afford to work in another district which unfortunately I think our district has one of the highest pay scales. It amazes me that decisions that affect so many students are made with no regard to what works. This is especially true to our population.
Today I went back to the interweb to find out what I could post about that would relate to sankalpa . "...Sankalpa has the potential to release tremendous power by clearly defining and focusing on a chosen goal." My chosen goal since May has truly been on being physically active. Since it's cold and miserable out, I've been being active inside instead of outside. December 6th (or something like that) was the last time I ventured outside for physical activity. I, however, have still been going to they gym and focusing on being physically fit (or at least burning enough calories to eat more food). Yesterday I received an early morning text from a friend in God's Country . President Obama was talking about "The President's Challenge" .
