I am not a Robot!

These are truths:  1) I am not a robot.  2) I am not a rule follower. 3) I am a bit judgmental... no really! "First, let's start with, "Type the two words:"  Technically, it's a number and a word, not two words... judgment call.  Next, why should I have to prove that I am not a robot?  Do zombies have to prove that they are not zombies?  I don't think so.  Finally, since I am not a rule follower, I have lately started entering these codes without using the numbers in front.  Actually, I'm not really sure why I started doing it, but I realized they'll accept the code without my entering the number.  Seriously!  Try it!

Zombie by The Cranberries

Another head hangs lowly  Child is slowly taken  And if violence causes the silence  Who are we mistaking  But you see it's not me  It's not my family  In your head in your head  They are fighting  With their tanks and their bombs  And their bombs and their guns  In your head in your head they are crying [Chorus] In your head In your head Zombie zombie zombie ei ei  What's in your head  In your head. Zombie, zombie, zombie ei, ei, ei, oh do,do,do,do,do,do,do,do  Another mother's breaking heart is taking over the violence causes silence  We must be mistaken  It's the same old thing since 1916  In your head in your head  Their still fighting  With their tanks and their bombs  And their bombs and their guns  In your head in your head they are dying [Chorus] I picked Zombie because it's the only 'Z' song in my iTunes, but then I found the lyrics worth posting.  Today's church service...

You Found Me by The Fray

"Where were you When everything was falling apart?" Perhaps, I'm exaggerating by saying, "Everything was [is] falling apart."  It's not falling apart, but my weekend is going to be spent grading papers and collecting baseline data for our PLC (Professional Learning Community).  I 'm not really a fan of grading papers, and I'm certainly not a fan of collecting data.  Do I want to make sure my students improve and know the material?  Of course.  Do I want to be up front and clear with my grading procedures?  Definitely.  Do I want to have to correct a pile of writing twice?  Nope.  The first time I graded the papers for a number grade for the grade book using the criteria I'd given the students.  This second time will be for baseline data.  Yes, I probably could have used the rubric that I'm using for baseline data the first time, but the assignment is merely and introductory writing assignment meant to get to know the students. ...

X & Y by Coldplay

Thank you Coldplay for helping me come closer to finishing the alphabet.  Thank you Chris Martin for being beautiful although to be honest, I couldn't find a super attractive image online. After work today, I met with my "Sabbath" group.  Since last March (Lent season) we've been meeting once a month.  We are a small group of four women from different backgrounds who meet once a month to share spiritual readings, drink a glass of wine, and talk about life.  Our meeting place is The Marsh .  This afternoon we actually looked out over "the marsh".  It was as relaxed as I've been all week, and I guess this is part of the reason I look forward to this monthly meeting.  I guess this is the X... Tomorrow and the weekend starts the Y and Z.

Wake Me Up by Avicii

Last week I was disappointed to quite disappointed that I was not able to make a dent in the three of four pounds I wanted to work off.  Even after eating carefully and working out, the scale didn't move.  This week I've tried something different.  I've eaten anything and everything I wanted including eating out the last two evening and indulging in a beer and dessert with each meal.  Tonight after having a danish with my sandwich, I even added a bag of mint M & Ms as I checked out at Walgreens.  My weigh in on Saturday probably won't be satisfactory, but I've had an enjoyable week.  It's not to say that I don't feel a bit guilty.  My plan is to alleve some of this guilt by getting up super early tomorrow and biking before work.  The alarm with "Wake Me Up," but the real challenge will actually be getting out of bed.  It may or may not happen, but the alarm will be set to "Wake Me Up."

Vegas by Sara Bareilles

Vertigo by U2 and Viva La Vida by Cold Play would have been better songs for 'V', but I wouldn't really have any commentary that fits today.  Tonight I get to listen to Edwidge Danticat at Talking Volumes , and I'm sure she'll be great.  This, however, doesn't help me post before I go out for the evening.  Vegas is also a weird choice since I've NEVER been to Vegas.   Today, however, we listened to Brave by Sara Bareilles as our journal activity, so Sara Bareilles was a good choice for 'V'.  Part of the activity was making a connection between the song and the book we're reading.  The classes did a great job and seemed to like both the song and video.  One of my classes started talking about the basic premises that the people in the video were all different like the poem we read on Monday.  Next, they connected it to the book.  Finally, they talked about the video itself and the dancing. One student suggested that they follow by doing...

U Can't Touch This by M.C Hammer

This afternoon I was super excited because I had a coupon for Ulta.  Finally, I was going to get the new color I wanted from OPI, Peace, Love, and OPI .  Unfortunately, they didn't have it.  This saddened me.   I called my friend to see if her salon had a bottle left, but they didn't.  As I drove down Hennepin, I saw a little salon with an OPI sign in the window, so I did a U turn.  As I walked in the store, the guy behind the counter asked me how my day was going, I told him it would be great if he still had Peace, Love, and OPI.  "I have one bottle left,"  he replied.  AWESOME.  Another lady working in the salon asked if she could see it.  I held it in my hand while looking at her questioningly and thought, "U can't touch this." Today is also National Punctuation Day .
